To provide a concise, yet substantive, introduction to the principles of Manufacturing Resource Planning, MRPII.

To realise why traditional inventory management was inadequate, why it evolved into MRP, Material Requirements Planning, then MRPII, and latterly into Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP.
To appreciate the benefits that may be achieved from a successful implementation of MRPII.
To understand the elements of MRPII, how they all fit together, and the hierarchy that must exist.
To appreciate the need for measurement and improvement of data accuracy.
To recognise the need for performance measurement throughout the layers of the hierarchy, and for creating feedback loops between the layers.
